Kerppola Lab Research on Molecular Interactions

By visualizing the kinetics of regulated protein interactions in living cells, we engineered fluorescent protein fragments with optimal sensitivity and specificity for BiFC analysis (Robida, 2009).

We have developed many tools for visualization of molecular processes in living cells and organisms.  By using bimolecular fluorescence complementation (BiFC) analysis, we have imaged numerous protein interactions in cells and in animals (Hu, 2002)

By visualizing the interactions between protein complexes with chromatin throughout the genome, we discovered new functions for xenobiotic response regulators. By imaging the complexes in intact tissues, we identified their roles during Drosophila development (Deng, 2014).
